Organic Farming

Let Food Be Thy Medicine and Medicine Be Thy Food.

Organic Farming was another critical component of health recovery for Dr. Code after being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Foods that were grown from seeds not genetically modified maintained their essential nutrients and taste.

Organic Farming employs agricultural practices that use only naturally occurring pesticides, fertilizers and growing aids rather than synthetic and toxic chemicals.  Unlike produce from genetically altered seeds, organically grown fruits and vegetables maintain their nutrients and taste.

Dr. Code lives on an island of 800,000 people that produces only 6% of the food they consume.  The vast majority of fruits and vegetables are grown from genetically modified organisms that can sustain machine harvesting and delivery to distances of up to 2,000 miles.  Only organic fruits and vegetables maintain their nutrients and taste. In early 2007, Dr. Code became president of the Island Farmer’s Alliance to stress the importance of local food security. He lives on 7.5 acres and grows organic heirloom or heritage vegetables.
